‘Reform not optional:’ Nursing groups call for rural Medicare changes

Inquiry told current telehealth rules and funding gaps disadvantage nurses and midwives, putting rural and remote patients at risk

A group of national nursing and midwifery organisations have warned that Medicare is failing rural and remote communities, telling a Senate inquiry that current policy settings are delaying diagnoses, fragmenting care and driving avoidable hospital admissions across the bush.
