Hi, I found this article very interesting but was a little alarmed as a nurse that a persons size and medical history is not taken into consideration when you provided a unilateral recommendation of 2.1-2.6L of fluids daily. From a medical perspective this amount may push some people into heart failure or overhydrate them with the resultant hyponatraemia causing even more health issues if falls are the result. Individuals with renal failure also need to be careful. I would have liked to see this article written with a caution for individuals, families and carers to be careful so that hydration is addressed on an individual basis adjusted to the medical condition and weight of the individual. Maybe in consultation with the GP or a dietician.
