Study links sedative use in children with post traumatic stress

A drug commonly used to sedate children receiving treatment in intensive care has been identified as a “possible predictor” of post traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS), a study led by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has found.

  1. What proportion of PICU patients who had similar procedures, but had meds other than midazolam, showed PTSS symptoms?
    Would not being critically ill, requiring PICU admission be a potential cause of PTSS?
