  1. opinion: aged care facility is only an offshoot of a hospital. Many residents are put into aged care facilities because their family or carers can no longer CARE FOR THEM therefore residents have medical issues, mobility issues , falls issues and possible other issues and now need 24 hour care or supervision. This constitutes to GENERAL NURSING CARE which sometimes can be hard and difficult to manage due to the residents disabilities and time consuming tasks i.e. feeding a resident who now has dysphasia difficulty with swallowing and needs to be feed and needs oral hygiene ( a forgotten part of caring for a disabled resident along with showering and changing incontinent residents). Bed sores should be a thing of the past.Putting in cctv nows gives you a picture of NURSING these residents which was unavailable before. Some of the staff should not be able to nurse in theses facilities as it takes a special person to care for these residents.
Privacy of these residents :we are deluding ourselves that residents who can no longer care for themselves are in a HOME. This place
requires nursing care 24 hours a day. These residents have no identification on them so giving medications to right person can be considered dangerous and if they wander away what identification do they have and residents mostly cannot tell who they are. Identification can be done with privacy i.e same as epileptics diabetic other people prone to seizures need identification and medical alerts.
Digital era is upon us and I suspect that maybe people will be using camera or phones in hospitals to alert public to health problems in the hospital facilities and their care. My guess is it will be harder for nursing to cover up their care and treatment.
